Historical site Odoi (earth wall) above the Kamiya river is called “Momiji en”(Maple garden) and known for the beautiful autumn leaves spot.

The Nightingale bridge is one of the most famous sights at the shrine grounds.

Hogo-in Temple(宝厳院)

Hogon-in Temple was built in 1461 as a sub-temple of Tenryu-ji by Hosokawa Toriyuki, a member of the government of the Muromachi shogun.
The garden inside the Hogonin Temple is a pond stroll style garden known as ‘Shishiku no Niwa’ (its mean Lion’s Roar Garden) that incorporates the surrounding scenery into its design.The magnificent stone is a symbol of this garden.
The garden itself represents the teaching place of Buddha, where truth is thought through nature, by listening to the birds singing and the sound of the wind.
While visitors admire and explore beauty of the garden, a teaching of Buddha is experienced at the same time.

Jojakko-ji Temple(常寂光寺)

Jojakkoji Temple is a quiet and pleasant temple surrounded by the beautiful nature on the mountainside of Ogura mountain in Arashiyama area, Kyoto city.
Jojakkoji Temple is a sub temple of Tenryu-ji temple, the world heritage, and their beautiful garden was frequently covered by the mass media.
The temple was named after the areas resemblance to Jojakkodo (the land in which Buddha’s reside as described in the Lotus Sutra).
The temple is rich in nature and there are moss and over 200 maple trees at the site, offering amazing scenery in green in spring and summer time.
The view from the top of the stone stairs around Ni-o mon gate was famous because the JR railway company picked up as an image as a beautiful Kyoto.
The temple is situated on the mountain and has many stairs, so it’s good to come in comfortable clothing.
