vol.47:Itinerary of Cherry Blossoms Tour in Kyoto

Kyoto has countless cherry blossom trees with thousands of cherry blossom viewing spots.
In this year, cool temperatures over the last few days have delayed the progress of the season a little.
In Kyoto, the blossoms started opening around March 28th, but still need a little more warmth to reach full bloom.
We expect the best viewing timing would be there for most of the rest of the week.
 
According to the weather forecast, it has been warmer to the end of this week.
It’ll be over 15℃ on Thursday, and it’ll get to 19℃ in this weekend.
Plus, the weather will be sunny and partly cloudy.
So you can enjoy taking some pictures of beautiful cherry blossoms.

Daigoji Temple

This temple is designated as one of the Sakura attractions 100 election, and it’s also designated as a world heritage site.
The large temple complex stands southeast of central Kyoto and includes an entire mountainside.
This temple’s been called “ Flowery Daigo” since Heian period and famous for its cherry trees.
About 1,000 cherry trees including Somei Yoshino, weeping cherry trees, and Yae cherry trees are located on the temple grounds.

Nanzenji Temple

Nanzenji is is one of the Five Great Zen Temples of Kyoto. It is also the head temple of the Nanzenji branch of Rinzai Zen.
This temple is famous for not only autumn leaves but cherry blossoms.
The Kabuki drama “Sanmon Gosan-no-Kiri,” Goemon ISHIKAWA’s famous words ‘What an amazing view’ are in reference to the Sanmon Gate of Nanzen-ji Temple.
An aqueduct of the Lake Biwa Canal remains in the south side of the temple.
It gets popular and popular among the young people and foreign tourists because of its nostalgic scenery.

Heiangingu Shrine

About 150 weeping cherry trees in Shinen garden are quite famous in Kyoto.
Somei Yoshino and Higan cherry trees can been seen together and visitors can enjoy a beautiful scenery for several weeks.
Don’t miss the picturesque spot which can be seen the harmony of both the color of the red weeping trees and vermilion red of wall in front of the main hall.

Heiangingu Shrine→(3min.)→City Bus46・100・110”Heiangingu-mae”
→(8 min.)→”Gion”→(5min walk)→Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park

Numerous pictures have already posted on SNS.
Its weeping cherry tree is pretty gorgeous and surrounded by about 680 cherry trees.
This park is located near Gion, and this area is really popular for many tourists.
Many tourists stayed there for a short time even though they wanted to stay more.
It was because the temperature was low last week.
This weekend is much more good time to go see the cherry blossoms and can enjoy cheerful Kyoto trip in spring.
