The Municipal Museum of Art, which was built in 1933, was reborn in March 2020.
The Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art is located in Okazaki Park, where Heian Shrine is located.
While making the best use of the space at the time of its construction, the equipment functions have been significantly updated. The basement, which was used as a cloakroom, was changed to an open entrance, and a new shop and cafe were opened.
A permanent exhibition room of about 1000 square meters has been newly established to introduce a wide range of modern and contemporary paintings, sculptures, and crafts.
Currently, admission is restricted by the reservation system, but it is possible to accept viewing on the day without a reservation when the capacity is not reached. Free areas such as cafes, museum shops, and The Triangle can be entered and used without reservation.

Kyoto Prefectural Domoto Insho Museum


This museum was designed by Domoto Insho, a painter born in Kyoto who was active in the Taisho and Showa eras and was established in 1966. Reopened in 2018, you can enjoy outdoor exhibitions and viewing works in the garden.
The most attractive thing is that the entire building has a Domoto Insho. Not only the paintings, but also the outer walls, pillars, and chairs placed for rest, the entire museum is decorated with an Insho world.
When visiting the museum, it is necessary to provide contact information when entering the museum from the viewpoint of preventing the spread of infectious diseases. No reservation is required when visiting the museum.

Fukuda Art Museum


In October 2019, a new private museum “Fukuda Art Museum” was opened.
Located in Saga-Arashiyama near Togetsukyo Bridge, it is a sophisticated Japanese-style museum. Approximately 1,500 works are held in the entire museum, and the core works are created by artists such as Maruyama Okyo, Yosa Buson, Ito Jakuchu, Takeuchi Seiho, and Uemura Shoen.
