Nanzenji Temple Tenju-an


Tenju-an, the branch of Nanzenji Temple, is a popular spot that many tourists gather during the autumn leaves season. There are two gardens, a dry landscape garden and a pond spring strolling garden, and the contrast between the red-dyed autumn leaves and the paving stones and moss is so beautiful that you can’t help but stop. It was lit up every year, but please note that it has been canceled this year.

Eikando Temple

Especially in the latter half of November, many people visit, so viewing may be restricted depending on the congestion situation. Advance preparation is required in anticipation of waiting outdoors.

Philosophy Road


It is a small diameter along the hydrophobic side that is popular even in the cherry blossom season. It is a spot where you can take a pleasant walk with the arches of autumn leaves lined up about 1.5 km from Wakaoji Shrine to Ginkakuji. It will not be lit up, so it is recommended that you visit while it is bright.

The best time to see it is from this week to the end of the month, but in December you can see the carpet of autumn leaves with scattered leaves.

The specially opened gardens are the dry landscape garden “Shiun no Niwa” with white sand and cedar moss, and a strolling garden where bright autumn leaves and a pond are in perfect harmony. There is also a valuable temple treasure exhibition, so it’s a good idea to make a reservation in advance when you go.
