vol.111:Hydrangea Garden Fujinomori Shrine


Fujinomori shrine is located in southern Kyoto. This small shrine is where it has been founded by Emperor Jingu even before Kyoto became the capital in the 700s. Thus it has a long connection to the imperial family and because of it, Fujinomori shrine’s main deities enshrine many gods who were members of the imperial lineage in life.

The shrine has attractive gardens, particularly during the early summer hydrangea. It is loved by locals It’s atmospheric on the path in the garden. The grounds are split into two parts in the north and south parts of the shrine. With flowers in a variety of colors from pink to blue and purple, you can enjoy the sight strolling through.
