Vol.196:Tanabata Sky Lantern Festival

Children’s summer vacation has begun, and the streets are filled with the lively voices of children.
Blue skies, cumulonimbus clouds, and sunflowers make you feel the arrival of summer.
This year, an event that is perfect for making summer memories will be held again.

Tanabata Sky Lantern Festival

The Tanabata Sky Lantern Festival, where people can send their wishes into the night sky, will be held at the nature-filled Gori Gori Hills in Joyo City.
This event will be held from August 8th (Friday) to 11th (Monday, holiday) and then on the 16th (Saturday) and 17th (Sunday), and is a popular summer event that draws many visitors every year, from families to couples.

The greatest attraction of this festival is the experience of entrusting your wish to a lantern and releasing it into the night sky.
The lanterns used are LED-type eco-lanterns that do not use fire, so they are safe and secure.
The sight of the lanterns slowly floating up into the night sky and merging with the starry sky is like something out of a picture book.
This fantastical moment is sure to become a lasting summer memory.

At the venue, there will be food stalls selling local delicacies and sweets, as well as Tanabata-themed workshops, so you can have fun both day and night.
The open location with a wide grassy area will give you a picnic-like feeling.

To avoid overcrowding, admission requires an advance reservation,
and you need to purchase a special ticket to launch the lanterns.
It sells out early every year, so we recommend checking early if you’re interested.

Why not spend a fantastical evening making wishes on lanterns with your loved ones?
Before you go out, please check the official website for the latest information.
