Kodaiji Temple
Kodaiji Temple is a temple of the Kenninji sect of the Rinzai sect located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City.
Kodaiji Temple was built in 1606 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s wife Nene for her husband Hideyoshi.
The name of Kodaiji comes from Hideyoshi’s Buddhist name, Kodai-in.
Kodaiji Temple has beautiful gardens.
Many tourists visit here to enjoy cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall.
Until August 18th, the anniversary of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s death, Kodai-ji Temple will hold a special summer night visit.
