vol.148:The Three Sakura Spots in Kyoto 2021

Toji

If you want to see the cherry blossoms in Kyoto in the spring, I recommend Toji Temple first.
The cherry blossoms at night are very beautiful, and the five-storied pagoda of Toji Temple and the cherry blossoms are both beautiful.
If possible, I would like to go when it is in full bloom, but it is beautiful and fantastic even if it is not in full bloom.
The five-storied pagoda is also lit up, and you will be overwhelmed when viewed from a distance or near.
Also, because it is surrounded by a wall, you can go around quietly and calmly.
The combination of cherry blossoms and Toji reflected on the surface of waterways and ponds should be tried once in your life.

Keage Incline

Keage Incline is a sloping railroad with a boat transportation route by Lake Biwa Canal.
It has been designated as a national historic site, and the railway still remains.
The cherry blossoms are in full bloom at both ends of the railroad, and the railroad is almost straight, so it’s a spectacular point that seems to appear in animation.
Many people take pictures, so it is recommended to go with the sunrise in the early morning of the next day after staying overnight. Even if you don’t take pictures, there is no lighting, so it’s a good idea to go to a bright time before the sun goes down.
You can experience the atmosphere of coming to another world rather than Kyoto.

Maruyama Park

Maruyama Park is very close to Yasaka Shrine.
There are shops along the way from Gion, and you can buy souvenirs.
Maruyama Park also has a store where you can buy something and go around while eating. It’s also lit up so it’s good to go see it at night.
The recommended time is not the night illumination, but the time when the evening sun is about to fall. Maruyama Park has a gentle slope, and when you reach the top, you can see the city of Kyoto. The setting sun is falling there. You can see that kind of scenery, and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. There are some places where the slope is steep, but when you go up, there are few other people and the atmosphere is good, so it is a highly recommended place.
