vol.11: Uji River Cormorant Fishing

The main event of Kyoto in July is the Gion Festival, but in addition to the Gion Festival there are many events that you can enjoy in Kyoto.

One of them is the Uji river cormorant fishing.
It is a summer traditional event that has been handed down since the Heian period (794 -1185).

On the summer evening, under the light of the bonfire, you can see a fantastic show by fishermen and cormorants while going aboard the boat.

If you are coming to Kyoto trip and want to avoid the crowds in the city, please go to Uji too.
