{"id":5052,"date":"2024-09-01T12:00:51","date_gmt":"2024-09-01T03:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kyonaka-gozan.kyoto\/koi\/?p=5052"},"modified":"2024-08-29T14:18:07","modified_gmt":"2024-08-29T05:18:07","slug":"vol-185","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kyonaka-gozan.kyoto\/koi\/en\/event\/vol-185\/","title":{"rendered":"Vol.185\uff1aSeiryu-e at Kiyomizu-dera Temple"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s still hot in Kyoto in September,so it&#8217;s too early to feel the signs of autumn.<br \/>\nSeiryu-e at Kiyomizu-dera Temple is a solemn event to pray for protecting the area and avoiding disaster.<br \/>\nAt Seiryu-e, the Seiryu, which is said to be the incarnation of Kannon, travels around towns and temples,while<br \/>\nwhile being protected by people who play conch shells,by the Four Heavenly Kings,and by Yashajin.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3a\">Seiryu-e at Kiyomizu-dera Temple<\/h3>\n<p>Seiryu-e is held on March 15th, April 3rd, and September 15th every year.<br \/>\nThis year, 2024, is the year of the Dragon, so we think it has a special meaning.<\/p>\n<p>At first, the event begins with a ceremony called the &#8220;Hakko Tokusui no Gi&#8221; at the inner temple of Kiyomizu-dera Temple.<br \/>\nThis ritual uses special water that is said to be found in the ponds of the Pure Land.<br \/>\nAfterwards, the procession travels with Seiryu to Jishu Shrine and Otowa Falls.<br \/>\nOtowa Falls is a symbolic location of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, as there is a legend that a dragon will fly down to drink at night.<\/p>\n<p>The sight of the 18-meter-long Seiryu descending the stone steps of Kiyomizu-dera Temple is very impressive and is a big attraction for local people and tourists.<br \/>\nThis event, which is attended by about 50 participants wearing solemn costumes, gives a sense of Kiyomizu-dera&#8217;s history and the depth of its faith.<\/p>\n<p>Seiryu-e is also believed to not only prays for the protection of the region and the peace, but also sever bad relationships and forge good ones.<br \/>\nWhy not experience the special Seiryu-e held in the Year of the Dragon in 2024?<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"style5a\">Information of Seiryu-e at Kiyomizu-dera Temple<\/h5>\n<p>Date: September 15, 2024<br \/>\nTime: 14:00~<br \/>\nLocation: Kiyomizu-dera Temple<br \/>\nFee: 500 yen for high school students and above, 200 yen for middle school and elementary school students<br \/>\nAccess: 10 minutes walk from City Bus 206 \u201cKiyomizu Michi\u201d<br \/>\nHP\uff1a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiyomizudera.or.jp\/event\/seiryu_e.php\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.kiyomizudera.or.jp\/event\/seiryu_e.php<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s still hot in Kyoto in September,so it&#8217;s too early to feel the signs of autumn.
