Kodaiji Temple is a temple of the Kenninji sect of the Rinzai sect located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City.
\nKodaiji Temple was built in 1606 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s wife Nene for her husband Hideyoshi.
\nThe name of Kodaiji comes from Hideyoshi’s Buddhist name, Kodai-in.<\/p>\n
Kodaiji Temple has beautiful gardens.
\nMany tourists visit here to enjoy cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall.
\nUntil August 18th, the anniversary of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s death, Kodai-ji Temple will hold a special summer night visit.
\nDuring this period, the temple and gardens are illuminated, and about 900 lanterns are lit along the approach.
\nYou can enjoy a fantastic atmosphere in the deep greenery.<\/p>\n
When you visit Kodaiji Temple at night, you can also see a special exhibit called the “Hyakki Yagyo Exhibition”.
