The charm of plum blossoms is their pretty flowers and scent. The scent loved by Murasaki, the beloved person of Hikaru Genji, the main character of the Genji story. At the spring palace where Hikaru Genji lived on purple in a building called Rokujoin, it is said that the scent reached the room by the wind during the plum season. In this way, ume has been loved by Japanese people since ancient times. So, continuing from last week, I would like to introduce two plum spots in Kyoto.<\/p>\n

\nAs the name suggests, the plum blossoms are wonderful, and the flowers are beautiful throughout the four seasons, such as cherry blossoms, Japanese iris, and autumn leaves. The god of sake brewing and the god of childbirth and easy delivery are enshrined. There are many plums in Nishijinen, and 450 plums of 35 species bloom. If you go around the end of March, you can see wild cherry blossoms and plum blossoms together. The history of this shrine is very old, and it is said that it can be traced back to before the Heian period. In addition, cats kept at shrines are popular in the precincts, and it is also famous as a cat shrine. If you like cats, why not aim for a shot of plums and cats?<\/p>\n

This area has been ruined since the emperor moved to Tokyo, but it has been revived and continues to the present day. It’s a vast site, so even if you hear about 250 plum trees, you might think that it should be that big, but at Kyoto Gyoen, you can put red and white plums on a single tree called “as you wish”. There are many plums to be attached and red plums that are said to have been in the garden of the Kujo family, who became the emperor of many daughters after issuing many Kampaku and regents called “Kuroki no Ume”.
