{"id":2162,"date":"2019-04-24T07:54:04","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T22:54:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kyonaka-gozan.kyoto\/koi\/?p=2162"},"modified":"2019-04-24T08:02:15","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T23:02:15","slug":"vol49-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kyonaka-gozan.kyoto\/koi\/en\/local\/vol49-2\/","title":{"rendered":"vol.50\uff1aWhy don&#8217;t you make memories at the local event &#8220;Oharame (the women of Ohara) Festival&#8221; in Kyoto?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ohara (\u5927\u539f, \u014chara) is a rural town nestled in the mountains of northern Kyoto, about one hour from Kyoto Station, but still technically located within Kyoto&#8217;s city limits.<br \/>\nOhara is best known for Sanzenin Temple and particularly popular in mid November during the autumn leaf season, which typically occurs about one week earlier than in central Kyoto.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nToday, we\u2019re going to tell you about \u201cOhara-me Festival\u201d.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nOharame Festival will be held in Ohara from the end of April to early May.<br \/>\nIn this event, Oharame Festival shows women, wearing Oharame clothing,<br \/>\nexplore Ohara and parade at Ohara village.<br \/>\nA woman in Oharame costume can receive discount and benefits at some temples and stores.<br \/>\nNot only young women but mother and daughter (over 4-year old) enjoy sightseeing with wearing the costume.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"style5b\">What\u2019s &#8220;Oharame\u201d? <\/h5>\n<p>The Oharame (\u201cmaiden of Ohara\u201d) is a historical female peddler of firewood (kindling rather than big blocks of it) from the town of Ohara.<br \/>\nOharame make their appearance in old literature about Kyoto, and in kyogen and buyo theater.
