Geiko Performance<\/h5>\n<p>A geiko is a woman who keeps the traditional culture of Kyoto alive in our modern life.<br \/>\nTrained for many years in traditional Japanese arts, geiko is said to be a symbol of Kyoto culture.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a quite rare opportunity to see geiko closely, even Kyoto residents find it\u2019s difficult.<br \/>\nIn this event, geiko will tell you a few anecdotes about her garments (kimono, obi sash, tabi socks, etc.) after playing shamisen (traditional musical instrument).  All items of geiko\u2019s clothing are gems of Kyoto traditional crafts.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Place:<\/strong><br \/>\nKyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts FUREAIKAN<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Address:<\/strong><br \/>\nB1F Miyakomesse,  9-1, Okazaki Seishoji-cho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City, 606-8343<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Access: <\/strong><br \/>\nIn front of \u201cOkazakikouen park Museum\u30fbHeianjingumae\u201d bus stop<br \/>\n10-minute walk from \u201cHigashiyama\u201d station on Tozai subway line<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Admission Fee: <\/strong><br \/>\nFree<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Date:<\/strong><br \/>\nFebruary 24th (14:00\/14:30\/15:00)*It takes about 15 minutes<br \/>\n&nbsp; <\/p>\n<h5 class=\"style5b\">2.Winter Travels in Kyoto Promotion Special Opening at Chishaku-in<\/h5>\n<p>At Chishaku-in Temple; the headquarters for the Shingon Sect\u2019s Chisan School of Buddhism.<br \/>\nThis time, the temple open to show their National Treasures which are created by HASEGAWA Tohaku and his son HASEGAWA Kyuzo.<br \/>\nThe National Treasure designated wall paintings created by them and owned by Chishaku-in Temple once adorned the walls of Shoun-ji Temple&#8217;s Kyaku-den (guest hall).<br \/>\nOf the images of &#8216;cherry blossoms and maple trees,&#8217; &#8216;the cherry blossom paintings&#8217; are the work of Tohaku&#8217;s son, Kyuzo, who died aged 26. Godai Rikison Ninno-e<\/h5>\n<p>Godai Rikison Ninno-e, as known as \u201cGodairiki-san\u201d and the largest event in Daigo-ji Temple, is held on February 23rd every year.<br \/>\nIt is held to pray for the immediate elimination of misfortunes and immediate creation of good fortune.<br \/>\nIn recent years, \u201cMochi age riki hono\u201d (dedication of power by lifting a rice cake) has been famous.<br \/>\nIn this event, male participants try to lift a 150 kg piece of rice cake and female visitors try 90 kg to dedicate power and pray for their health and happiness.
